Black Elderberry(sambucus nigra) is renowned for its health benefits and is perfect as a pick-me-up at anytime of the year or to help you through the cold and flu season. It has been used medicinally for thousands of years.

Elderberries contain vitamins A and B1, B2 and B6; and high levels of vitamin C along with amino acids, carotenoids, flavonoids - powerful antioxidants that protect cells against damage. The purple pigment of Black Elderberry contains high levels of anthocyanin. Research has shown that anthocyanins in black elderberry can boost the production of cytokines, the proteins that act as messengers within the immune system, enhancing the body’s immune response.

Manuka Honey's active ingredient Methylglyoxal is likely responsible for its antibacterial effects. Additionally, manuka honey has antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits. In fact, it has traditionally been used for wound healing, soothing sore throats, preventing tooth decay and improving digestive issues.

Orange zest, cinnamon and star anise - while < 1 % of the total ingredients, these elements add the fresh zesty citrus notes

Cinnamon is also reputed to have anti-inflammatory effects and prebiotic properties that promote the growth of beneficial bacteria and help suppress the growth of pathogenic bacteria. Therefore, including spices regularly in your diet may help improve gut health.

Star anise contains thymol, terpineol and anethole, which is used for treating cough and flu. Anise also helps improve digestion, alleviate cramps and reduce nausea. Consuming star anise tea after meals is said to help treat digestive ailments such as bloating, gas, indigestion and constipation.
