4 Ways to Use Elderberry Wine Vinegar

Elderberry Vinegar tastes delicious

Ashbolt Elderberry Aged Wine Vinegar has been barrel aged for 9 years, with a unique crisp and complex berry flavour and delightful pink blush hue.

Elderberry Vinegar is good for you

Elderberry is high in flavanoids, anthocyanins and vitamins A and C and has long been thought to have immune-modulating and antioxidant effects and is traditionally used in the treatment of viral infections.

Use our Aged Elderberry Wine Vinegar for a regular health boost or in place of any red wine vinegar.

4 Uses for Elderberry Vinegar

  1. Dilute in hot water, add honey to taste and fill your flask for a reviving warm drink when hiking in winter.
  2. Serve over a wild-foraged greens salad. Pictured is elderberry vinegar with pennywort, sea sandwort, garlic mustard and sea kale shoots, buds and flowers. But rocket and broccolini and most veggie flowers would work equally well. A drizzle of Ashbolt olive oil will really complement it.
  3. Reduce slightly by warming in a pot and then use to enrich a tomato sauce, chutney, relish or as a piquant addition to a sweet and sour stir-fry.
  4. Mix with dried juniper berries and thyme to marinade a haunch of venison or other game for a very special winter's day dinner.
